This article presented a low-profile dipole antenna with enhanced ground immunity by using spin–spray-deposited ferrite films. To reduce the mutual coupling between the antenna and the ground plane, Fe3O4–ferrite films were added below the dipole antenna. Novel dipole antennas with lossy Fe3O4–ferrite films loading were designed and analyzed. Under the condition of low profile of 2 mm, a good reflection coefficient of −24.6 dB was obtained when antennas were loaded with lossy ferrite films, which shows great promising for the antenna miniaturization in the modern wireless communication. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
