Abstract

In the Bayesian treatment of binary statistical mixture distributions, also an integration with respect to the mixture parameter is to be carried out. An exact integral evaluation is devised to effectuate this integration fast and numerically stable. On an astronomical application to Bayesian source detection in x-ray photon data from the ROSAT all–sky survey is reported. (© 2004 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
