Abstract

Light-scattering and viscosity measurements were made on six ethyl cellulose fractions in methanol at 25°C. The relation [η] = 5.23 × 10−4w0.65 was found to hold over the molecular weight range of 0.98 × 105 to 4.10 × 105. Second virial coefficients for this system were found to be essentially zero at 25°C. The dependence of dielectric dispersion of ethyl cellulose solutions on molecular weight was confirmed.
