The image background is a schematic structure of the oil-in-water Pickering high-internal-phase-emulsion (HIPE) that is stabilized by commercial titania (TiO2) nanoparticles upon addition of small amounts of non-ionic surfactant Tween85. The open-cell hydrophilic polymer foams in the center of the image are the product as prepared through polymerization of the monomers in the aqueous phase of the Pickering HIPE. As presented by Ye Hua, Shengmiao Zhang, Yun Zhu, Yeqian Chu, and Jianding Chen on page 2181, the morphologies of the foams, such as average void diameter and interconnectivity, can be tailored easily by varying the concentrations of TiO2 nanoparticles and Tween85.
