We report the synthesis and characterization of a novel series of platinum-segmented polydiacetylenes (Pt-PDAs). These polymers can be considered PDAs having every other double bond replaced with a Pt center and fully conjugated side groups attached to the remaining double bonds. Physical, optical and electronic properties of these polymers can be systematically tuned by changing the side groups from alkyl to phenyl and to thienyl moieties.
