Molecular dynamics simulation is employed to investigate the system of an elastic shell tethered by polymer chain brushes, as presented by Aihua Chai, Dong Zhang, Hongping Chen, Xiaohui Wen, Linli He, and Linxi Zhang on page 1480. The collapse-expansion transition of an elastic shell is observed by varying the density of the grafted polymer chains at moderate bending energy (Kb) and moderate binding energy (D0). Grafted polymer chains could also affect the distribution of the surface binding energy. The cover image is one of a sequence showing different distributions of the binding energy on the collapsed shell surface when the number of grafted polymer chains increases.
