Microwave dielectric heating is a promising method to improve the mechanical strength of electrospun nanofiber materials in a short time. On page 807 (DOI: 10.1002/polb.23486), Hyun Ju Oh, Song Hee Han, and Seong Su Kim report the first study of a novel microwave technique for the processing of electrospun nanofibers. To optimize the microwave irradiation conditions, the nanofiber is treated at varying levels of moisture and with different irradiation times. This method can generate the desired inter-fiber cohesion structures and high crystallinity in the nanofiber.
