Preparation of SiO2-Encapsulated BaTiO3 Nanoparticles with Tunable Shell Thickness by Reverse Microemulsion

A silica coating on hydrophobic BaTiO3 nanoparticles is created using a reverse microemulsion route. The process is sufficiently controllable to target a tunable silica shell thickness by choosing appropriate BaTiO3 concentrations. Increasing the concentration of BaTiO3 nanoparticles is found to be an effective approach to decrease silica thickness.
