Diamondosomes: Submicron Colloidosomes with Nanodiamond Shells

A novel class of submicron colloidosomes has been assembled from nanodiamonds. These capsules, which we call diamondosomes, are self-assembled from either negatively or positively charged detonation nanodiamonds at a decane/water interface using lipids to induce shell formation. Diamondosomes show high shell stability as analyzed by interfacial shear rheology and offer the promise of serving as multifunctional drug delivery vesicles.
