Abstract

In the current study, the effects of oxygen (O2) plasma treatment on indium tin oxide (ITO) and its correlation to the efficiency of organic solar cells (OSCs) were investigated. The O2 plasma treatment is able to remove impurities of the ITO surface and increase its surface energy to match the water-based poly (3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene): poly (styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) solution. The strong polar interaction from the O2 plasma-treated ITO surface helps in the conformational change of the PEDOT chain from a benzoid to a quinoid structure, which improves film quality and the efficiency of organic solar cells.
