Fabrication of fast and sensitive IR-detectors based on PbS quantum dots passivated by organic ligands



Functional molecules have been combined with colloidal quantum dots to build robust, closely packed, conductive solid state devices. In this research work, we report on the fabrication, characterization, and evaluation of infrared (IR) photodetectors based on lead sulfide (PbS) quantum dots capped with thioacetamide and L-cystein ligands. Results indicate that thioacetamide treatment increases responsivity by a factor of 100. The fabricated detector based on PbS–thioacetamide nanomaterials shows fast temporal response with rise and decay times of 140 and 180 µs, respectively.
