Abstract

Investigation of the magnetic properties of two-dimensional magnetophotonic crystals (MPCs) based on silicon films covered by a Co layer several nanometers thick and a Cr layer several tens of nanometers thick indicated quasiperiodic variation of the magnetic properties of the system while interacting with electromagnetic radiation. Oscillations discovered of angular dependence of the transverse magneto-optic Kerr effect are connected with resonant condition when a standing (stationary) wave is formed in a magnetic film. This wave activates the rotation of spins in the system and thereby changes the magnetic properties.
