Abstract

Parasitic thermal effects (thermal depolarization and thermal lens) of three Konoshima Chemical Co. laser-ceramics samples Yb3+:Lu2O3(CYb≈1.8%), Yb3+:Y2O3(CYb≈1.8%), and Yb3+:Sc2O3(CYb≈2.5%) were measured in experiment at different pump power. The obtained results were used to calculate a number of thermo-optical constants, which showed that sesquioxide ceramics are significantly superior to the widely used yttrium aluminum garnet Yb3+: Y3Al5O12(CYb≈10%).
