TiO2anatase nanotube layers (see image) perform much better in the photocatalytic conversion of organic azo dyes than common photocatalysts. This is important for all self-cleaning applications and for cases where particle separation from the cleaned media is technologically expensive and difficult. Other potential applications of self-organized TiO2 nanotubular structures may arise based on the semiconductive properties of TiO2.
