      Voltammetric measurements of catecholamines in the medial prefrontal cortex are infrequent because of lack of chemical selectivity between dopamine and norepinephrine and overlapping anatomical input. Here, we validated electrical stimulation of the ventral tegmental area (VTA) as a method to evoke dopamine rather than norepinephrine release in the mPFC.

      Three splice variants from the mouse Oprm1 gene were isolated and characterized. All encode full length, seven transmembrane domain receptors with high affinity for mu opioid drugs. Despite similar binding affinities for mu opioids, the variants differed in their transduction properties, as determined by activation of 35S-GTPγS binding, consistent with biased signaling.

      The mRNA expression of MT1A and MT1B receptors at 2:00 in sciatic nerve-ligated mice, which exhibited thermal hyperalgesia along with an increase in wakefulness, was significantly greater than those in sham-operated mice, whereas the levels of both MT1A and MT1B receptors at 8:00 in sciatic nerve-ligated mice were significantly lower than those in sham-operated mice.

      Subchronic stimulation of 5-HT7-Rs during the prepuberal period (PND 31-44, by LP-211 at 0.5 mg/kg/day) increases EZM head-dips (i.e. riskseeking propensity) in adolescent NHE rats. Thus, increased ongoing dysinhibition was produced in a model for hyperactivity and impaired attention.

      In animal studies, the authors show that Gab2 expression was decreased at different time points after kindling compared to the controls and the lowest level of Gab2 expression occurred at 1 week. This finding of Gab2 suggests that it may play an important role in the pathogenesis of TLE.
