Abstract

The neutral pentacoordinate silicon(IV) complexes 3 (SiClO2NC skeleton), 4 (SiO3NC), 5 (SiO2N2C), and 6 (SiClON2C) were synthesized. Compounds 36 contain a tridentate dianionic O,N,O (35) or O,N,N ligand (6), a phenyl ligand, and a (pseudo-)halogeno (3, 5, 6) or trifluoromethanesulfonato ligand (4). Compounds 36 were characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction and solid-state and solution NMR spectroscopy. According to these studies, the coordination number of the silicon atom in the solid complexes 36 is retained in solution.
