Abstract
The rich structural chemistry of compounds of the type AMM'Q3, where A is an s-block alkali- or alkaline-earth metal, M is a d-block transition metal, M' is another d-block metal or an f-block metal, and Q is a chalcogen, is discussed. We briefly consider the syntheses and physical property measurements of these compounds, but our main emphasis is on differences and trends among the seven structure types in which the 160 known, structurally characterized compounds crystallize.
