The cover picture shows a fragment of the crystal structure of [Rb(diaza-18-crown-6)]4·C60·(en)4.1 (en = ethylenediamine), one out of three crystalline rubidium salts of the tetra-anion C604–. For the first time the highly charged C604– fulleride could be isolated in crystalline form by the reduction of C60 in solution using rubidium-mercury amalgams or rubidium suboxide in the presence of elemental mercury as reducing agent. The spin state of the C604– anion is discussed by means of EPR measurements of selected single crystals. More details are discussed in the article by T. F. Fässler et al. on pp. 2205 ff.
