Sylvia Fibich has a BA in psychology from SUNY Binghamton and a BSN from Columbia University. Recently she completed the joint degree program at Columbia University in nurse-midwifery training and MPH. Currently she is a Graduate Research Assistant for Columbia's Center for Population and Family Health, and is a practicing nurse-midwife for Maternity and Infant Care-Family Planning Projects in the New York City area.

Debra Brook Paparo is a CNM practicing in New York City. She is a staff nurse midwife for the Bellevue/Gouvemeur Nurse-Midwifery Service and counsels on childbirth education for private clients. Concurrently, she is writing several chapters for the Handbook of High Risk Maternity Nursing. She received her MS degree from Columbia University, and was previously employed as a Perinatal Nurse Clinician for Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City.
