Two inadvertent errors appeared in the article entitled “The American College of Nurse-Midwives’ Home-Based Lifesaving Skills Program: A Review of the Ethiopia Field Test” by Lynn Sibley et al. (JMWH 2004;49:320–328). In the Introduction, the statistics should be listed as follows:
The current neonatal mortality rate in Ethiopia is 49 deaths per 1000 live births. The infant mortality rate is 97 deaths per 1000 live births.
The maternal mortality ratio in Ethiopia is 871 per 100,000 live births. The maternal mortality ratio refers to the number of maternal deaths per 100,000 live births and reflects the risk of death for women who are pregnant. Maternal mortality rates refer to the number of maternal deaths per 100,000 women of reproductive age.
An inadvertent error appeared in the Table of Contents in our September/October 2004 issue, Vol. 49, No. 5. The author of the Share With Women column entitled “When Does the Bag of Waters Break?” is Elisabeth Blish Genly, CNM, MSN.
