 A campaign of one month simultaneous MST radar and radiosonde observations has been carried out from a tropical station Gadanki (13.5°N, 79.2°E) in India during summer monsoon season (July–August). The observed signal spectral width by radar, temperature and pressure by radiosonde are made use to estimate the various atmospheric turbulence parameters such as eddy dissipation rate (ε), vertical eddy diffusivity (Kh), inner scale size (l0) and buoyancy scale length (LB) in troposphere and lower stratosphere between 4–20 km. Applicability of the correction to the observed spectral width due to beam, shear and transience broadening is examined for the present series of measurements using Indian MST radar. The correction due to shear broadening of spectral width is noticed to be significant. The height structure of turbulence parameters from these measurements shows some distinct features. These features are discussed in terms of the observed background atmospheric parameters and magnitude of various turbulence parameters compared with those reported in literature and discussed in detail.
