Assessing usefulness, availability of NASA data

With the data volume that is returned by NASA missions expected to increase by as much as one to two orders of magnitude over the next five years, a recent report recommends measures for improved data management so that archival data can be used for potential scientific advances. Among the recommendations in the report by the Space Studies Board of the National Research Council are that budgets for mission operations and data analysis be uniformly included as an integral part of mission and/or program funding.
