Sea-floor hydrothermal mineralization research advances in China

Authors

Abstract

Volcanogenic massive sulfide (VMS) deposits containing copper, zinc, silver, and gold concentrated by hydrothermal processes have been discovered at submerged plate boundaries and volcanic island arcs. These discoveries, in turn, have made mineralization an exciting field of sea-floor hydrothermal research. Chinese scientists are beginning to join the international community in investigating sea-floor hydrothermal mineralization.
