Scientists tasked with generating environmental data realize the difficulties of obtaining meaningful information. Proper data generation depends on planning, collection, preservation, and analysis of the sample. No one part of this process is any less critical than the next. With the quality of the data only as good as the weakest link, the proper analysis of environmental samples begins long before the final analysis.
