The Earth Science Information Partner (ESIP) Federation is a collection of data providers working together as an experiment in self-governance and interoperability (http://www. esipfed.org). The federation provides over 2000 data products and services through its 43 partners, who include Distributed Active Archive Centers, science research centers, application centers, and NASA. Most federation data products are available free of charge.
