EPA issues guidelines for agency consideration of outside data

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has issued new guidelines to ensure that the quality of scientific information it uses that is generated from outside of the agency meets the same standards as research conducted by the agency itself.

The intent of the guidelines is to enhance transparency about EPAs quality expectations for information from sources outside the agency, and to raise awareness about quality considerations, so that scientists can better understand how the agency evaluates and weights such information.
