Auxiliary material for this article contains a table of 40Ar/39Ar analytical data for 16 samples (with 1 to 6 subsamples each) of basaltic groundmass and 1 plagioclase from Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea volcanoes, which were analyzed by incremental broad-beam laser heating at the Berkeley Geochronology Center.
