Correction to “Transverse dimensions of chorus in the source region”

This article corrects:

  1. Transverse dimensions of chorus in the source region Volume 30, Issue 2, Article first published online: 16 January 2003

[1] In the paper “Transverse dimensions of chorus in the source region” by O. Santolík and D. A. Gurnett, (Geophysical Research Letters, 30(2), 1031, doi:10.1029/2002GL016178, 2003), an error appeared in the abstract (paragraph [1]). A correction is given here.

[2] The following statement has to be deleted from the abstract since it does not correspond to the contents of the final version of the paper:

[3] “The observations are consistent with a statistical model of the source region assuming individual sources as gaussian peaks of radiated power with a common half-width of 35 km perpendicular to the magnetic field. This characteristic scale is comparable to the wavelength of observed waves.”

[4] Results of the statistical model were not included in the paper due to the length limitations and have been recently published elsewhere [Santolík et al., 2004], but were mistakenly mentioned in the abstract. The removed text should be replaced by the following:

[5] “The characteristic scale for the decrease of the correlation coefficient is approximately 100 km.”
