Huygens provides insights about Titan

Following the Huygens probe's successful 14 January soft landing on Titan, Saturn's largest moon, scientists at a 21 January European Space Agency (ESA) news briefing announced that the moon has Earth-like meteorology and geology and that there is evidence for liquid methane.

Martin Tomasko, principal investigator for the Huygens Descent Imager-Spectral Radiometer, said, “Geological evidence for precipitation, erosion, mechanical abrasion and other fluvial activity says that the physical processes shaping Titan are much the same as those shaping Earth.”
