This past January, the AGU Fellows Committee met in San Francisco, Calif., and elected 45 distinguished AGU members for recognition as Fellows. The expertise of these elected Fellows spans an extremely broad range of Earth and space science disciplines. In this, my fourth and final year on the Fellows Committee, I continue to be amazed at the quality and breadth of the nominees.
AGU is committed to ensuring that deserving members from all sectors of the membership are being considered as Fellows. While the demographic distribution of Fellows has become more diverse in the last few years, we still have a long way to go to achieve proportional representation. To further its goal, AGU is expanding its efforts to reach out to underrepresented groups.
