Committee of visitors' advice to NSF Ocean Sciences Division

Abstract

The U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) convenes an external group, called a Committee of Visitors (COV), every 3 years to provide advice to NSF management about the foundation's divisions and programs. Specifically, the COV provides an assessment of the quality and integrity of program operations pertaining to proposal decisions, and the degree to which awardees have contributed to the attainment of NSF's mission.

The COV for the Division of Ocean Sciences (OCE) met at NSF on 26–28 June 2006. Findings in the COV report (http://www.nsf.gov/geo/acgeo_cov.jsp) include the following.
