Science and math education action plan

The U.S. National Science Board has proposed a plan to improve the quality of science and math education at all grade levels nationwide. If implemented, the plan will help attract and retain quality educators, enhance scientific literacy in current teachers and students, develop national math and science standards for each grade, and ensure that continuity in learning exists as students move from one grade to the next.

A National Action Plan for Addressing the Critical Needs of the u.s. Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Education System, released in draft form on 8 August, seeks to correct what National Science Board (NSB) members see as failures of the U.S. science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education system in ensuring that all U.S. students receive the skills and knowledge required to be successful in the 21st-century workforce.
