Data Position Statement to be Updated

AGU members have an opportunity to provide comments to a panel preparing to update a position statement for Council consideration in May 2008 concerning the archiving and availability of scientific data. There is currently a risk of losing important data that have been collected over the years, and these data need to be preserved and made publicly available where possible to help future generations understand the various Earth systems. The panel is being asked to address a broad range of data issues that affect Earth and space scientists globally. The current statement can be found at under the heading “The importance of archiving and availability of geophysical data.”
