Action on climate urge

The science academies of the G8 countries—along with those in China, India, Brazil, Mexico, and South Africa—on 10 June issued a joint statement urging leaders at July's G8 Summit in Japan to take action on climate change. The statement indicates, “Responding to climate change requires both mitigation and adaptation to achieve a transition to a low carbon society and our global sustainability objectives.”
