[1] Since signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and Doppler shift are two important channel parameters affecting the reception performance in the radio propagation channel, we put forward a joint estimator to estimate the two parameters in very low SNR environments in radio systems. The proposed estimator exploits the relation between level crossing rate (LCR) and SNR, and realizes the estimation of the Doppler shift and SNR through double sampling rate (DSR) signal processing. Extensive simulations conducted under a wide range of noise corruption clearly show that our joint estimation algorithm substantially outperforms several existing estimators in terms of accuracy.
