Scientists and education professionals can present at Geophysical Information for Teachers Workshop

Abstract

As many members know, every year at the Fall Meeting, the AGU Education and Public Outreach department collaborates with the National Earth Science Teachers Association (NESTA) to hold a workshop for K–12 Earth and space science teachers and informal educators. These Geophysical Information for Teachers (GIFT) workshops allow science teachers to hear about the latest Earth and space research from the scientists making the discoveries, explore new classroom resources for their students, and visit exhibits and technical sessions during the meeting for free. Successful GIFT workshops were held at the December 2010 and 2011 meetings, where excellent teams of presenters discussed a range of topics that addressed AGU's science and society and education goals and objectives (see http://www.agu.org/about/strategic_plan.shtml).
