Abstract

I'm a scientist, and I drink coffee. Now, I know what you're thinking, “So what? We're all scientists. We all drink coffee.”—but I didn't. Not until I left my laboratory bench at the University of Notre Dame, journeying deep into the foreign land of newspaper journalism, did I learn to appreciate a slow drip alongside the morning hustle.
