Slow growth for NSF Programs

Authors

Abstract

NSF's programs will grow at a snail's pace in 1988, thanks to a budget from Congress that provides more than $200 million less than the agency requested. While NSF's actual Fiscal Year (FY) 1988 budget will be 6% more than 1987, most basic research in the physical sciences will grow by only a couple of percent, and NSF's planned Science and Techology Centers will not be funded at all.
