Magma under Long Valley Caldera: Reply

As the one responsible for submitting the meeting report (“Pre-Drilling Data Review and Synthesis for the Long Valley Caldera, California,” Eos, January 19, 1988, p. 43), I must also take responsibility for omissions and errors. These may occur for a variety of reasons and despite the fact that the meeting report is reviewed by selected attendees prior to publication. I am pleased that P. B. Dawson et al. have taken the time to set straight the point about the midcrustal low-velocity anomaly (in “Magma Under Long Valley Caldera,” Eos, March 1, 1988, p. 124). I offer apologies to them and to any other attendees who may feel that their contributions were either omitted or misrepresented. Due to space limitations, many sections of the draft meeting report had to be rather ruthlessly deleted or shortened.
