Seismicity of the East Pacific Rise: Correlations With the Southern Oscillation Index?

The following article is being published with our recognition that it presents controversial material. The controversy lies not in the data or the statistical analyses, but stems rather from the lack of a well-identified physical mechanism linking seismicity on the East Pacific Rise with El Nino events. Even the possibility of a physical linkage here should be of interest to both geophysicists and oceanographers, and it is hoped that this publication will result in a continuing and rewarding dialogue.
