Renee A. Pruett, a graduate student at the University of Oklahom; Norman, has been selected as the recipient o the 1988 June Bacon- Bercey Scholarship for Women in Atmospheric Sciences. The scholarship, which is administered by AGU, is provided through a gift from noted meteorologist June Bacon-Bercey.
Pruett received her B.S. in mathematics and meteorology from the University of Wisconsin at Madison and is currently enrolled as a graduate student in the University of Oklahoma's School of Meteorology. Her graduate research involves a numerical investigation of convective-scale and mesoscale predictability and concentrates on using the three-dimensional Klemp-Wilhelmson cloud model as a predictive tool. Eventually, her study will incorporate Doppler radar data to initialize and periodically update the numerical model.
