The SURTROPAC group of the Centre ORSTOM de Noumea, New Caledonia, South Pacific, will host an international meeting on TOGA (Tropical Ocean and Global Atmosphere Program) followed by a workshop for planning the TOGA-COARE work (Coupled Ocean-Atmosphere Response Experiment) in the western equatorial Pacific Ocean. Joel Picaut of ORSTOM-Noumea and Roger Lukas of the Joint Institute for Marine and Atmospheric Research (JIMAR) of the University of Hawaii are joint convenors. The conference will be sponsored by France, the United States, and the International TOGA Project Office. Tentative dates for the meetingand workshop are May 24–30, 1989.
