Abstract

President Bush has announced that Dallas Lynn Peck will continue as director of the U.S. Geological Survey. Peck has held this position since 1981.

A Fellow of AGU and past president of AGU's Volcanology, Geochemistry, and Petrology section, Peck has also served as chairman for the Committee on Earth Sciences since 1987 and was cohost and head of the U.S. Delegation to the 28th International Geological Congress, held in Washington, D.C., in July. Honors include the Presidential Meritorious Executive Award, 1980, and the Alumni Distinguished Service Award, California Institute of Technology, 1985.
