High-precision digitizing of Florida shorelines is complete for 18 coastal counties. Maps show ocean and lagoon shorelines, as well as the mainland shore, where barrier islands are present.
The new maps make up the Historical Florida Shoreline Atlas, commissioned by the Division of Beaches and Shores, Florida Department of Natural Resources. More than 70 sheets show successive shorelines, taken from various maps; about 85 sheets show bathymetry and changes of bathymetry (with time). Scale is 1:24,000. Lines are color coded to source maps and dates.
