Proceedings of the Drought Management and Planning Seminar and Workshop, held May 30–June 1, 1990, in Denver, Colo., are now available. Organized by the International Drought Information Center of the University of Nebraska, the program was designed to network public agencies and private organizations in the United States with drought-related responsibilities (monitoring, impact assessment, mitigation, and planning) at the state, regional, and national levels.
Improved intergovernmental coordination was viewed as an important first step toward reducing societal vulnerability to drought. At the time of the meeting, public and private institutions were struggling with these issues in anticipation of continued drought in 1990 and beyond.
