Geoengineering to reduce global warning?

  • Susan Bush

As a possible course of action to offset global warming and its side effects, the National Academy of Sciences recommends more research and development projects to better understand the potential of geoengineering options. The recommendations are part of “Policy Implications of Greenhouse Warming,” by the NAS released on April 10. The report is one of the products of the NAS study on global change mandated by the HUD-Independent Agencies Appropriations Act of 1988. The study was conducted by four panels; this is the report of the Synthesis Panel, responsible for developing overall findings and recommendations.
