NASA recently selected 63 recipients out of 367 applicants for its 1992–1993 graduate student fellowships in global change research. Each awardee will receive $20,000 annually toward Ph.D.-level work at U.S. universities or other institutions. An additional $2000 is available to the student's faculty advisor to help support the student's research. The fellowship is renewable for an additional 2 years, pending satisfactory progress based on academic performance and faculty advisor evaluations. Now in its third year, the fellowship program has reached its goal of funding 150 fellowships per year.
