“The new departmental structure at headquarters focuses the talent of four senior professionals on the major program areas critical to the membership. I am delighted that Pat Setser, Mary Ann Emely, and Gene Bierly have joined Judy Holoviak and me,” said Executive Director Fred Spilhaus on the completion of a staff restructuring at AGU. The new structure will provide a base for the Union's future growth as the needs of the geophysical sciences grow and their importance to society is more broadly recognized, he added.
The most recent addition is Eugene W. Bierly, who heads the Education and Research Programs directorate. He came to AGU on September 21 from the National Science Foundation's Division of Atmospheric Sciences, where he was director since 1974.
