Abstract

David Halpern of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and Philip P. Russell of NASA's Ames Research Center have begun 3-year terms as editors of Geophysical Research Letters, AGU's interdisciplinary rapid-publication journal. Halpern's editorial emphasis is ocean sciences and ocean-atmosphere interactions and Russell's is atmospheric sciences.

Halpern, an oceanographer and senior research scientist in JPL's Earth and Space Sciences Division, currently specializes in analysis of surface wind over the global ocean and the associated oceanographic changes of current, surface topography, temperature, and phytoplankton. His ocean circulation and ocean-atmosphere interaction studies involve observations from Earth-orbiting satellites and numerical simulations from models of the coupled ocean-atmosphere circulation.
