Abstract

In an effort to maximize the return on U.S. investment in science, the Office of Technology Assessment has released its first in a series of reports. “The Future of Remote Sensing from Space” was requested by the Subcommittee on Science, Space, and Technology and concludes that because NASA still has “too much on its plate” relative to the size of its budget plans, growth in the Mission to Planet Earth (MPE) program may be constrained. The Office of Mission to Planet Earth was split off from the Office of Science and Applications during an internal NASA reorganization in March.
